Pylon Competition
Long listed competition submission in collaboration with Exploration Architecture and Fluid Structures.
A fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) open lattice tower, developed as a competition submission for a 21st century electricity pylon. Inspired by bone structures, trees and grass stems, the pylon design is a delicate filigree in the landscape and highly efficient new power delivery structure.
A tapered ovalised tube form ensures that a minimum of material is used to maximum effect and is a significant efficiency improvement over the current square-based pyramid form of the existing pylon.
